ST. CLAIR, Mo. – A St. Clair, Missouri, man was killed Saturday afternoon in a head-on crash in Franklin County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s crash report, the collision occurred just after 3 p.m. in the 1100 block of Missouri Highway TT, inside St. Clair city limits.

The highway patrol said a 62-year-old man was driving a homemade dune buggy eastbound on Highway TT and lost control of the vehicle due to speeding.

The dune buggy crossed the centerline of the highway and collided with a 2024 Chrysler Pacifica traveling in the opposite direction.

The dune buggy driver was pronounced dead at the scene by 3:10 p.m.

The crash report states the 62-year-old was not wearing a “safety device,” at the time of the collision, but does not specify whether it was a seat belt, a helmet, or both.
