Granite City student removed after bringing weapon to school

GRANITE CITY, Ill. – Police are investigating after school officials were made aware of a student with a weapon Thursday at Granite City High School.

According to Granite City Community Unit School District #9, the high school’s administration learned of a student with a weapon at the end of the day.

They say there was no immediate threat to other students, and the individual involved has since been removed from campus, they added.

Granite City Police are continuing an investigation into the matter. School officials reiterated that there is no danger to their students and staff at this time.

Information released is limited as the investigation is ongoing.
