GREENVILLE, Ill. – A heartbreaking scene came out of Greenville, Illinois, from last night’s severe weather—a woman’s home was demolished by a tornado as she just barely made it out alive.

“She started screaming, everything’s gone, everything’s gone,” said Randy Ellis, the brother of the tornado victim. “I asked if she was hurt and she said, ‘yes.’”

Randy’s sister is the owner of a home in Greenville, having lived there for more than 20 years.

He said he was watching the news last night when the Tornado-warned storm in Greenville caught his attention.

“My sister was here by herself and was headed for the basement,” Ellis said.

Within seconds, the tornado levels his sister’s home and throws her into the air.

“She was actually picked up and laying somewhere back here by the sink behind the car,” her brother described.

Randy says she is said to be okay after being taken to the hospital but has sustained head trauma and several lacerations on her body.

“We’ve been trying to pick up any valuables or personal or sentimental things. Anything that we could scavenge,” Ellis said.

The community of Greenville, Randy’s family and friends came together to help with the cleanup.

“Last night a lot of the community, family, friends, just people just showed up I don’t know where it is just wanting to help. I just want to say thank you more to … it’s just amazing. It’s sad to see that something like this has to bring people out but this is when they show their best side,” he said.
