ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a burglary that took place in the parking garage at the Police Headquarters.

The theft occurred on Monday, April 21, during the night. The SLMPD reported the theft of various items, including one firearm.

Police say they have found a person of interest in relation to the burglary, which brought them to Crystal City, Missouri.

In a consent-to-search, officials said that they recovered a few missing items, including the gun.

Although some items were recovered, the investigation remains ongoing as the supposed person of interest is not in custody.

“Our top priority is the safety of our community and officers,” said SLMPD Director of Public Affairs and Information Mitch McCoy. “We will continue to investigate, review all evidence and not stop until an arrest is made.”

Police ask anyone with potential information surrounding the theft to call the Central Patrol Division, which can be called at 314-444-2500.

Individuals can also submit an anonymous tip at 866-371-TIPS.

In its news release surrounding the incident, SLMPD said it is “working to identify additional protocols to ensure this does not happen again.”
