MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – Firefighters responded to a HAZMAT situation Saturday morning at a chemical lab in Maryland Heights.

It happened just before 10 a.m. at American Radio-Labeled Chemicals Inc., just north of Page Avenue near Ball Drive.

Crews discovered a thick haze of smoke in the lab. Everyone was able to get out safely.

Once hazmat crews got inside, they discovered there had been a small explosion inside of a storage cabinet containing flammable liquids. They were able to put it out quickly.

After an active response for several hours Saturday, the area is now back open to the public.
