ST. LOUIS – In the heat of practice with the crunch of the skates and the shot of the puck, one small but mighty fan is right at home.

Meet Logan Gatto — a 9-year-old with a huge heart and an unshakable love for Boston University Hockey.

Logan has a rare neurological condition — HNRNPU-related disorder.

“He has a rare mutated gene that causes global delays, mainly seizures. And it’s not something that’s curable,” said Nick Gatto, Logan’s father.

The nonprofit organization– Team Impact — matches children with serious illness and disabilities with college sports teams.

in 20-22, Team Impact matched Logan with Boston University Hockey. He and the team haven’t looked back since.

“BU Men’s Hockey and BU, in general, has welcomed us in such a way that it really feels like family,” Nick Gatto said. “Day one, Team Impact and BU made us realize that this is one of the best choices we have made for Logan and our family.”

In each of the last three seasons, Logan has accompanied the Terriers on their way to the Frozen Four. His presence is more than symbolic — it’s powerful.

This weekend you can catch Logan rooting on his Terriers with his signature chant.

“He puts a smile on our face. we might be stressed out and nervous before the game. He comes running in and you kind of forget a little bit before the game. You just kind of loosen up,” said Shane Lachance. “He definitely makes the atmosphere in the locker room way better for sure.”
