COLLINSVILLE, Ill. – Inside Collinsville’s Verona Coffee Company, Jodi Sager spilled the tea. The hot topic brewing here for weeks? A delivery debacle gripping the streets.
“We had a package that was delivered to us that was somebody else’s,” Sager said.
Matt Grisolano dished up the same story at Bert’s Chuck Wagon.
“My wife, she got a couple that were wrong,” Grisolano said.
The mail mishaps have been the talk of the town on The Collinsville Connection Facebook page. Members posting pics of packages wrongly delivered to their doors as social media sleuths search for the grinch responsible for this holiday hassle. This is Facebook after all, so there’s plenty of folks cracking jokes.
“They thought it was something about a disgruntled employee or something, but I hadn’t heard anything past that.”
Most of the complaints we saw in the Facebook group involve the regional delivery company “Better Trucks.” Headquartered in Chicago, the company’s website says it delivers to homes in select cities across the country.
Better Trucks didn’t answer our questions about how and why these issues delivery issues are happening in the Metro East. In a statement, a spokesperson told us: “We know it’s frustrating if you don’t get your package when and where you expect it, regardless of which carrier is delivering it. We want to help. For anyone in Collinsville who has received a package that was not intended for them from any carrier, they can email us, and we’ll work with them to get the package to the right place.”
“It’s impressive that everybody pulled together and get this done,” Grisolano said.
Before Better Trucks’ offer, members of the Collinsville connection had already taken matters into their own keyboards, creating a social media solution Santa would be proud of.
“We ended up putting something on Facebook and putting the packages out to the right person and they came and got them,” Grisolano said.
“She was like really emotional about what was in there and teared up and hugged it as she walked away,” Sager said.
Messages of thanks are now pouring onto the group’s page. Proof the spirit of the holiday season is alive and well, not just words on a coffee shop wall.
If you’re expecting a package from Better Trucks, the company says you can track it at BetterTrucks.com and email the company if you need help. That email address is: STL@bettertrucks.com.
