ST. LOUIS – The Homer G. Phillips Memorial Hospital suspends operations in north St. Louis due to a blood shortage.

The hospital needs to secure a reliable and continuous source of blood. The hospital’s board of directors is working with several suppliers, including the Red Cross, to find that source.

During the closure, the board will be working with financial lenders to get more funding to expand operations. It also says the majority of hospital staff will be furloughed until further notice.
