ST. LOUIS – A traffic stop for speeding led to the arrest of a valet accused of stealing a hotel guest’s vehicle.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the theft happened on the March 22 at the Marriot Hotel in downtown.
During the overnight hours, Florissant police pulled over a Dodge Durango for speeding. Officers discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen and took the driver, Arthur L. Jackson III, 43, into custody.
St. Louis police learned Jackson had been working earlier that night as a valet at the hotel and had access to the guest’s car keys.
The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Jackson with stealing a motor vehicle. The judge released Jackson on a personal recognizance bond, with stipulations that Jackson must make weekly call-ins before trial, and he cannot drive any vehicles. A future court date was not available in online records.
