ST. LOUIS – A housekeeper at a Central West End hotel is accused of entering guests’ rooms and stealing their valuables last month.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the thefts happened between March 9 and March 12 at the AC Hotel in the 200 block of York Avenue.

The first victim reported his watch had been stolen, the second victim said she returned to her hotel room to find an expensive piece of jewelry missing, and the third victim said her driver’s license as well as credit and debit cards had been taken.

Police learned Cristian A. Villamill, 27, was an employee of a temp agency the hotel contracted for housekeeping services. On each date a guest’s property went missing, Villamill was the only person who accessed those rooms while the victims were away.

Police said when they apprehended Villamill, they found the first victim’s watch on his wrist. Police said surveillance footage shows Villamill and another suspect using the third victim’s credit card in a store. That suspect allegedly told police Villamill gave him the stolen credit cards.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Villamill with stealing – $25,000 or more and two counts of stealing – $750 or more. Villamill was released on a personal recognizance bond and ordered to appear in court for a detention hearing on April 7.
