MADISON COUNTY, Ill. – If you are looking for a job, then the Illinois Department of Transportation is looking for you!
IDOT is hosting a job fair Wednesday at the Gateway Convention Center, right off Interstate 55 and 70. There are two sessions, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon.
IDOT’s Joe Monroe says multiple jobs will be available, including potentially some plow drivers for the upcoming winter season. IDOT representatives will be in attendance from offices and bureaus who oversee both technical and administrative responsibilities. They will be on hand to discuss current and upcoming employment opportunities at various IDOT locations.
Organizers say if you’re coming out, you can learn how to apply for state jobs and also attend breakout sessions. IDOT’s partner central management services will be available to help explain the application process. The Illinois Secretary of State’s Office will also have staff members in attendance to answer questions on obtaining a commercial drivers license for jobs where that kind of license is required.
The Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs will also be on hand to give out information on programs and services for qualified veterans. IDOT says there will be a limited number of computers there to provide access to the state’s electronic job application system but you are encouraged to bring your own laptops as well.
There will be one session taking place from 9 a.m. until noon, then a second session will take place from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Both sessions are taking place at the Gateway Convention Center, located at 1 Gateway Drive in Collinsville, just off I-55/70.
