ST. LOUIS — A 20-year-old Glen Carbon man faces felony charges following a fatal home invasion in Wood River, Illinois. August C. Archambault was charged in July for home invasion, robbery, and burglary in connection with the May 16 incident. He was recently placed under arrest.
Archambault was initially a guest in the victim’s home on Thompson Street. Court documents state that he allegedly orchestrated the invasion and robbery in May with a second participant. During a struggle with the homeowner, the second participant suffered a fatal gunshot wound. He also stole a gun.
Archambault evaded arrest for nearly two months before U.S. Marshals took him into custody in Tampa, Florida, on September 13. Prosecutors have filed a detention petition, arguing that Archambault poses a community threat and should remain in custody pending trial. A hearing on this petition is pending.
