ST. LOUIS – A Fairview Heights man has been charged with nearly 50 counts of burglary, property damage, stealing, and attempted burglary throughout St. Louis last fall.

According to court documents, 26-year-old Darryl Lewis went on a spree between Sept. 20 and Nov. 13 of breaking into homes, burglarizing residences, and stealing property. Most of these crimes occurred between the areas of the Shaw and Soulard neighborhoods.

Lewis stole a variety of items, which included jewelry, electronics, tools, food, a dehumidifier, and two handguns. He often broke doors down to gain entry into the residences.

Below are the following charges Lewis faces:

  • Four counts of first-degree burglary
  • 12 counts of second-degree burglary
  • Two counts of second-degree attempted burglary
  • 11 counts of stealing $750 or more
  • Two counts of stealing
  • Two counts of stealing of a firearm
  • One count of stealing over $25,000
  • 12 counts of second-degree property damage
  • Three counts of first-degree property damage

Lewis is currently being held without custody. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 5.
