COLLINSVILLE, Ill. – Illinois State Police (ISP) released results from an operation where troopers hit the streets of the Metro East, targeting criminals and trying to make areas safer.

ISP say the operation took place on Oct. 28 and 29 and involved using intelligence and technology to target known high crime areas, violent offenders, and what authorities call structured criminal groups in Metro East communities.

Results from the operation, which is commonly known as a ‘Violent Crime Supression Detail’ show that troopers made 27 arrests, leading to 55 criminal charges. 16 firearms were seized, and one stolen vehicle was also recovered during the operation.

Investigators were able to bring about 33 felony charges and 27 firearm-related charges. At this point, authorities have not released the identities of any of the suspects who they took into custody.

ISP says 35 officers from across the state teamed up with other ISP forces for this operation. They say they will continue to use all of their available resources, including ground and air patrols as well as technology and forensics, to help combat crime.
