ST. LOUIS — The James Beard Foundation announced the 2025 restaurant and chef award semifinalists on Wednesday, and seven St. Louis restaurants and chefs made the cut, receiving national attention.

The James Beard Foundation is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, recognized as the nation’s most prestigious honors for recognizing talent in the culinary and food media industries.

The semifinalists are recognized across 25 categories, including “Best New Bar,” “Outstanding Professional in Beverage Service,” and “Outstanding Professional in Cocktail Service.”

Best Chef in the Midwest: Nick Bognar, Sado in The Hill

Best Chef in the Midwest: Loryn Nalic, Balkan Treat Box in Webster Groves
