ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Jefferson County man remains jailed for attacking two people with a sword at two University City multi-family homes on Friday morning.
According to the University City Police Department’s probable cause statement, the attack happened on April 18 in the 600 block of Geoffrey Lane.
Police said Rodney D. Cox kicked in the door of a woman’s apartment and went to strike the woman with a full-length sword while she sat on her couch in the living room. The woman’s dog barked and scared Cox away.
Cox allegedly went across the street to another multi-family dwelling, kicked in another apartment door, and stabbed a man in the chest, police said. The victim was taken to the hospital. The extent of the man’s injuries was not disclosed.
Cox was arrested a short time later and identified thanks to witnesses.
Police did not mention a possible motive for the attack, but said Cox did not know either victim.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Cox with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, and two counts of first-degree burglary. Cox is in custody with a $250,000 cash-only bond. Online records did not say when he’ll appear in court.
