A neonatal exam showed the calf is in good health and is bonding with her mom Makali.

The zoo said the new youngster is 12-year-old Makali’s second calf. Her first calf, Maxwell, was born in 2018 and left the zoo in 2020 per a breeding recommendation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan.

The zoo said it will be a while before the new calf makes her public debut but will keep people updated on the zoo’s social media pages.
