KIRKWOOD, Mo. – The City of Kirkwood announced that all water customers are under a boil water advisory Thursday.

According to the city, a major water main break near Marshall Road and Charmwood Court has triggered other breaks throughout the entire system, causing a low-pressure alert.

All Kirkwood water customers are urged to follow recommendations under the precautionary boil water advisory.

The most important step is to not consume any water without boiling it and letting it cool first—this includes brushing teeth, making ice, washing dishes, or food preparation. Customers can use bottled water. Residents should discard any stored tap water or ice.

If you feel unwell, talk to a doctor as untreated water can hold harmful organisms that cause illnesses, according to the City of Kirkwood.

“Our crews are working around the clock to repair the breaks and restore normal pressure. We’ll notify you through Hyper-Reach when the advisory has been lifted,” the city said.
