ST. CHARLES, Mo. – An animal shelter in St. Charles is holding an adoption event through Sunday because it is overcrowded with kittens.
Jeana Roth, executive director of Five Acres Animal Shelter, said they’re caring for more than 150 kittens at their facility and through its foster network. As a result, the shelter has temporarily halted taking in new kittens.
FAAS is hosting a Kitten Palooza Adoption from Thursday through Sunday in order to find homes for at least 50 of their kittens.
“It has been a season like no other with homeless kittens in need,” Roth said. “We have a waitlist of kittens ready and needing to come into our care from community members and partner rescues, but we are not able to support this need without finding our current kittens forever homes.”
Adoption fees will be reduced during the Kitten Palooza period: $75 for a single kitten and $100 for a pair. Each kitten has been spayed and neutered and is up-to-date on their age-appropriate vaccinations.
