ST. LOUIS — A significant winter storm approaching St. Louis is prompting school and business closures across the region for Wednesday. The system is expected to bring heavy snow to the north and a wintry mix to the metro area between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., with some areas receiving up to 7 inches of accumulation.
Schools and businesses throughout the region have announced closures ahead of the storm, particularly in areas north of Interstate 44 in Missouri and Interstate 70 in Illinois, where travel conditions are expected to be most hazardous. The southeastern portion of the metro area is preparing for sleet and freezing rain.
