VELDA CITY, Mo. – The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis has been activated to assist with an ongoing homicide investigation in Velda City.
Authorities say a 63-year-old man was fatally shot around 3:15 p.m. Thursday outside a home on Lexington Avenue.
The victim’s identity is being withheld until next of kin have been notified.
The Major Case Squad was called to assist with the investigation Thursday afternoon. Authorities have since taken one person of interest into custody in connection with the case.
The investigation remains ongoing and detectives are working to gather new information. FOX 2 will update as more information becomes available.
