ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Authorities recovered nearly 200 fentanyl capsules and one ounce of methamphetamine as a major drug bust followed a routine traffic stop earlier this week in St. Louis County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the drugs were seized Monday after a traffic violation along Interstate 44.

The Highway Patrol shared a striking photo of the drugs recovered Monday, which appears to include many capsules with color combinations of pink and yellow and blue and green. In total, 179 capsules were recovered.

According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, as little as two milligrams of fentanyl could be considered a potentially lethal dose, and counterfeit capsules may contain anywhere from .02 to 5.1 milligrams.

Additionally, some case studies from the National Library of Medicine report that a lethal dose of methamphetamine is around 200 milligrams. One ounce of meth is equal to roughly 28,000 milligrams.
