ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – An East St. Louis, Illinois, man is facing charges of stealing more than $11,000 worth of wheels and tires from Hazelwood businesses earlier this spring.

According to the Hazelwood Police Department’s probable cause statement, the thefts happened between March 24 and April 15.

Police said Oscar McGee (age not provided) on March 24 stole a wheel and tire from a 1998 Chevy pickup truck belonging to Legacy Pharmaceutical Packaging. On April 8, McGee allegedly stole eight wheels and tires from a 2021 Peterbilt truck belonging to Composite One. And on April 15, according to police, McGee stole eight wheels and tires from a Kenworth truck owned by Lazer Logistics.

The stolen wheels and tires were worth a combined $11,639.

Investigators identified McGee’s vehicle with a license plate reader. Cellphone data showed the phone was in the location of the thefts at the time of the crimes.

Police said McGee was eventually arrested in Illinois for similar thefts and charged in that jurisdiction.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged McGee with three counts of stealing – $750 or more. McGee was taken into custody on June 17 and posted bond on July 10. He’s due in court for a preliminary hearing on August 26.
