ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – An Arnold man was arrested Thursday after evading police in a stolen car and driving head-on into traffic, leading to a single-vehicle accident.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged Norris Douglas with tampering with a vehicle and resisting arrest by fleeing amid the investigation.
The incident occurred when police say they saw a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling westbound on Jennings Station Road from New Halls Ferry with expired plates and heavily-tinted windows.
Police tried to stop the Jeep, but the driver allegedly sped up and drove head-on into oncoming traffic, forcing other drivers to swerve out of the way.
The driver, later identified as Douglas, attempted away from the scene before police arrested him.
While speaking with officers, Douglas admitted that his actions were extremely dangerous and that he was knowingly driving a stolen vehicle.
