ST. LOUIS – A man was arrested and charged in connection with a woman’s death Wednesday in St. Louis City that followed an abduction in nearby Clayton.

The St. Louis Circuit’s Attorney’s Office has charged Anjuan Mosby, 43, with 18 felonies in the investigation, including first-degree murder and eight counts of armed criminal action.

Investigators believe that Mosby and the victim, identified as 37-year-old Michelle Hampton, were known to each other.

On Wednesday, authorities were called to St. Louis’ Kingsway East neighborhood just after 11 a.m. A woman, later identified as Hampton, was found shot to death in an alley on the 4700 block of Greer Avenue near Marcus Avenue.

Investigators in St. Louis and Clayton determined Hampton was kidnapped early Wednesday morning in front of her home on Whitburn Drive by an armed suspect.

Witnesses told FOX 2 that Hampton was in the driver’s seat of a car with another person in the passenger seat. At least one witness followed the vehicle into St. Louis City, but stopped after someone fired shots at their car.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department announced on Saturday that its officers were able to arrest Mosby with assistance from the US Marshals Task Force and St. Louis County Police Department.

Mosby will be booked at the St. Louis Justice Center. His charges in the City of St. Louis include:
