ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A man was charged Friday after police found him hiding in the bathroom of a business he broke into in Jennings.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department’s probable cause statement, the incident occurred Friday at the Park N Shop liquor store, located on the 8800 block of Jennings Station Road.

Police say the man, Nicholas Williams, 38, was able to get inside of the liquor store after he threw a rock-like object through the front window, which triggered the burglar alarm.

When police responded to the scene, they say they saw the back door of the business open then close again. According to police, Williams barricaded himself inside of the business, causing police to force entry. When police made it inside, they found Williams hiding behind a closed bathroom door, bleeding from his head and hand.

According to police, video surveillance showed Williams taking money out of the cash register and carrying a black trash bag. Police say they found the money inside Williams’ pockets, covered in blood from his injuries. Police also found the trash bag near the exit door, which contained 38 packs of cigarettes, lighters, and clothing items.

Police say Williams stole items that exceeded the value of $150. Police also said that the value to replace the glass after Williams broke in would exceed $750.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Williams with first-degree property damage, second-degree burglary, and stealing. Williams is being held on $50,000 cash only, no 10% bond. He is next scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 4 for a bond reduction hearing.
