ST. LOUIS — A man has been charged for allegedly making terrorist threats against the St. Louis John Cochran Medical Center in February.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police, Henry T. Shaw, 67, allegedly called the VA’s hotline three times and made threatening statements.
St. Louis police said Shaw first called the VA on Feb. 10 and was upset due to a payment issue. Shaw allegedly said over the phone, “Ya’ll gonna (explitive) around and make me go crazy on the VA (explitive) at John Cochran. I’m gonna murder them (explitive) till I get my way.”
Shaw allegedly called the VA again on Mar. 18, stating, “If he didn’t get his money today, they’d better watch the news tomorrow, because it’s not going to be pretty once he shows up at the VA,” according to police.
Shaw again called the VA on Mar. 24 and said, “I am sick of them people up at Cochran, I ain’t trying to hurt nobody, but if they keep (explitive) with me the way they (explitive) with me, there’s going to be a dead body up in that (explitive) place somewhere. I swear to God on my dead mama. I am not playing.”
Police said the phone calls were recorded, and on one occasion Shaw said he had a firearm. Shaw later admitted to police that he made the threats to the VA hospital.
Shaw has been charged with three counts of first-degree terrorist threats but was released from police custody last Wednesday per his promise to appear in court as required. Shaw’s case is scheduled for a status hearing on April 24 at 9 a.m.
