ST. LOUIS – A man is left dead after a shooting in south St. Louis City Monday evening.
The shooting happened around 8:45 p.m. Monday night on the 4900 block of Bonita Avenue in the Princeton Heights neighborhood of south city. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a man had been shot. The man was later pronounced dead, according to officials.
At this early stage in the investigation, police have not released many details about the victim, except that he was an adult man. There is also no information yet on a potential suspect or suspects.
Overall, this is at least the 137th murder of 2024 in the city of St. Louis. That is still down from last year at this time when there were 147 murders in the city. In 2022, there were 179 murders at this point in the year, and in 2021, that number stood at 178.
