ST. LOUIS – A man with a prior felony conviction for robbery who was already out on bond in a burglary case is facing charges in a new armed robbery investigation.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the robbery took place on Feb. 11 in the 4400 block of Laclede Avenue, located in the Central West End.
Police said the victim was walking into his apartment around 12:45 a.m. when he was confronted by Marlon L. Crockett, 26, and two other men. The three men wore ski masks and pushed the victim inside the apartment. One of the men announced a robbery while holding a handgun.
Crockett and one of his cohorts traded the gun back and forth and held the victim at gunpoint while the third suspect searched the victim’s apartment.
The trio left the apartment with the victim’s Xbox, phone, money, and keys. Police said the victim was not injured during the robbery.
Investigators reviewed footage from Real Time Crime Center and Metro surveillance cameras from the time and location before and after the robbery.
Police said they found footage of Crockett and his cohorts, sans masks, after the robbery. Police identified Crockett and another suspect based on prior contact with law enforcement.
Crockett was arrested late in the day on March 23.
The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Crockett with first-degree robbery, first-degree kidnapping, unlawful possession of a firearm, and two counts of armed criminal action. Crockett remains jailed without bond. He’s due in court for a detention hearing on Tuesday, April 1.
