ST. LOUIS – St. Louis police are investigating an overnight shooting during an attempted robbery in the city’s North Pointe neighborhood.
According to a spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened around midnight at a bus stop at West Florissant Avenue and Park Lane.
Officers responded to the hospital after the victim, a 34-year-old man, was dropped off with a gunshot wound.
The victim told police he was standing at the bus stop when three men approached and asked him for a lighter and cigarettes. When the victim went to grab his cigarettes, the suspects pointed a gun at him. The victim grabbed the gun and it went off.
The victim was struck by a round and the suspects fled. The victim managed to call someone to bring him to the hospital.
Police said the victim remains in critical condition.
