WOOD RIVER, Ill. – Wood River police have identified a man found shot to death last week at a local apartment complex in what investigators have called an isolated incident.
The shooting happened just before midnight on May 16 at a parking lot in the 100 block of Thompson Street.
Police found Kaden Topal of Edwardsville shot to death with a gun nearby. Topal was 18.
Investigators determined a home invasion occurred just prior to the shooting at one of the apartments, though police did not offer any additional information regarding Topal’s possible involvement.
The investigation remains ongoing, Wood River Police Chief Brad Wells said.
