JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. – A Jefferson County man awoke last week to find himself being stabbed by a woman he let spend the night at his residence, law enforcement said.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office’s probable cause statement, the stabbing happened on July 8. A more specific area was not provided.
The victim told deputies he woke up and saw Melissa M. Herrmann (age not provided) stabbing him in the chest with a pocketknife.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where he received stitches for the wound to his left pectoral and for a laceration on his right hand between his thumb and index finger.
Herrmann was arrested on July 10.
The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Herrmann with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Herrmann is being held without bond. She’s due in court on July 17 for a bond hearing.
