ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis man made his first appearance in court Monday after allegedly shooting at his sister’s boyfriend over the weekend.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened March 29 at an apartment building in the 2900 block of Lafayette Avenue, in the city’s Gate neighborhood.

Police said the victim and his girlfriend had just returned from work. The girlfriend was in the shower when her brother, Alusine Kamara, 20, entered the apartment.

Police said Kamara became aggressive, went to the bathroom, and began yelling at his sister. The boyfriend intervened and he and Kamara exchanged words.

Kamara allegedly tried to punch the boyfriend, but he evaded the blow. The boyfriend struck Kamara and knocked him to the ground.

Kamara got to his feet and retrieved a nearby handgun. At this point, Kamara’s sister had come out of the bathroom and she and her boyfriend attempted to calm Kamara down.

Police said the sister tried coaxing Kamara toward the front door to get him to leave. When he reached the front door, Kamara turned and began shooting toward the boyfriend.

Thirteen shell casings were later recovered at the scene.

After the shooting, officers received word that Kamara, still armed, went to a nearby QuikTrip gas station. Kamara allegedly ran behind the counter at the QT and into a storage area.

A store employee was able to detain Kamara there until officers arrived and took him into custody.

Police said Kamara admitted to firing the shots.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Kamara with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Kamara remains jailed without bond.
