ST. LOUIS – St. Louis police are investigating a carjacking in which one of the perpetrators used a broken glass bottle to steal a vehicle.

According to a St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson, the theft happened around 8 p.m. in the 4700 block of Anderson Avenue, located in the city’s Penrose neighborhood.

Police said the victim, a 24-year-old man, told officers he got lost and pulled over to use the GPS on his phone. While checking his phone, two men opened the driver’s side door, one of whom held a broken bottle. The man held the broken bottle to the victim’s chest and demanded he exit the vehicle.

The 24-year-old complied and the two suspects drove off in his Hyundai Sonata.

The victim told police he tracked his car to Cintra and Carter avenues, where he found the vehicle unoccupied.
