PHELPS COUNTY, Mo. – A Missouri Lottery player won $77,777 from a scratcher after making a stop to buy a soda for his low blood sugar in St. James.
The man decided to stop at Smoker’s Friendly, located at 205 State Route B in St. James, to get a soda. While at the shop, the man decided to buy the $10 “777 Jackpot” scratcher ticket after it had caught his eye.
“My blood sugar was low, so I stopped in there to grab a soda and just randomly bought that ticket,” the winner said.
After purchasing the ticket, the man wasted little time checking the results but was left in disbelief when he realized he was the winner of one of the $77,777 prizes offered.
“I was just in disbelief,” the winner said. The win comes at a time when the winner and his wife had begun to look into building a new house. “This will really help with that!” he said.
