ARLINGTON, Texas – Quarterback Manny Wilkins was carted off the field with an apparent lower-body injury in Saturday’s St. Louis Battlehawks game, a 30-15 road loss to the Arlington Renegades.
Wilkins left the game midway through the first quarter after an awkward fall that happened seconds after an offensive snap. He received medical attention on the field for several minutes before he was carted off the field.
The diagnosis and severity of Wilkins’ injury are not immediately clear as of Saturday afternoon.
Wilkins was 0-2 on passing with -4 rushing yards before his abrupt exit.
Max Duggan took over at quarterback, but the Battlehawks never held a lead Saturday and struggled to find momentum, trailing 16-3 after the first quarter and giving up two touchdowns on Arlington defensive turnovers.
Duggan went 8-17 with 78 passing yards and two interceptions in his first lengthy stint in UFL game action.
Rodrigo Blankenship helped the Battlehawks to their first nine points with three field goals. Linebacker Willie Harvey came up with a key interception for St. Louis’ only defensive touchdown of the day.
That moved the Battlehawks to a deficit of one point heading into the fourth quarter, though Arlington regained momentum with two fourth-quarter scores and held St. Louis scoreless the rest of the way.
The Battlehawks fall to 2-2 with the loss and dropped their second straight context. Up next: A Saturday evening showdown at the Dome as the Battlehawks host the Michigan Panthers.
