WENTZVILLE, Mo. – A brand-new Mercy hospital campus is in the works for Wentzville as crews officially broke ground for the campus on Thursday.

This marks the beginning of construction for Mercy’s first brand new, acute care hospital campus in the state of Missouri in nearly a decade.

The future hospital will include 75 regular beds, 26 emergency room beds, two trauma rooms and four behavioral health rooms. There will also be special services for cardiovascular care, cancer and orthopedics.

“This isn’t just the start of construction – it’s the beginning of a transformative journey for health care in Wentzville and the tri-county region,” said David Argueta, Mercy senior vice president of community operations via a news release. “After months of listening to and learning from neighboring businesses, residents and our community advisory council, we’re excited to move toward meeting the health care needs of the area.”

Current plans call for a 60-acre campus near the intersection of Interstate 70 and Interstate 64. A timeline for completion has not yet been announced.

Once built, the Wentzville site will become Missouri’s first new, acute care hospital campus since 2015 when Mercy opened its hospital in Joplin following the historic 2011 tornado.
