ST. LOUIS – The United Football League announced that they are investigating an incident that took place between a fan and a Michigan Panthers player over the weekend.

While the Panthers were at the home turf of the St. Louis Battlehawks Saturday, a video circulating on social media shows a fan in the stands and Panthers’ Samson Nacua verbally arguing with each other, before the wide receiver jumped up and slapped the fan across the face.

It remains unclear what exactly either one was yelling was yelling or what led up to the tension.

Sunday, the UFL released the following statement regarding the altercation:

“The UFL is aware of the incident that took place last evening at the conclusion of the Michigan Panthers vs. St. Louis Battlehawks game in St. Louis. League officials are currently investigating the matter.”

Beyond the UFL, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department announced Monday during a briefing that they were made aware of the altercation, and that they are investigating the matter.

Spokesperson Mitch McCoy stated that they are currently working with The Dome at America’s Center to review any surveillance footage that may also show the moment it happened.

The Battlehawks secured a 32-27 victory over the Panthers during the game.
