JACKSON COUNTY, Mo. – A Missouri Department of Conservation K-9 saved the day – and a set of keys – after one hunter found himself in a tough situation.

MDC agent Justin Pyburn and his K9 partner Korra recently responded to a call for help at the Reed Memorial Wildlife Area in Jackson County.

While out in the fields with his family, a rabbit hunter realized his keys had gone missing. A short time later, Korra sprang into action.

Navigating through several acres of dense grass, Korra used her skills to sniff out the lost keys.

“Korra used her tracking skills to smell out and find the keys over many acres. Mr. Randolph and his family were impressed and thankful for K9 Korra’s help,” said the Missouri Department of Conservation via a Facebook post.

According to dog-supporting website WagWalking.com, families and trainers can teach a dog to track lost keys through a combination of object recognition, familiarizing them with commands such as “fetch” and “search,” and positive reinforcement using treats while training.
