CRAWFORD COUNTY, Mo. – One woman was killed and a man seriously injured after their house exploded overnight.

According to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, the explosion happened around 1:30 a.m. on Erin Drive, located approximately four miles west of Cuba.

Fire crews from Cuba, Bourbon, Steelville, St. James, and Sullivan responded to the explosion.

The home was completely destroyed, according to the sheriff’s office.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was rushed to a nearby hospital with severe injuries. The victim’s name has not been released.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Cuba Fire Department, Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Missouri Propane Safety Commission are working to determine the cause of the blast.

Thus far, investigators have found no sign of foul play.

“Our hearts go out to the individuals and families affected by this tragedy,” Crawford County Sheriff Darin Layman said.
