ST. LOUIS – A Missouri woman is accused of stealing $174,000 in disability payments over 14 years, according to a new federal indictment.

Starr Lumos, 54, of Franklin County, Missouri, was indicted April 16 on one count of theft of government money and one count of concealing information from the Social Security Administration regarding her eligibility for benefits.

Lumos, who also goes by the name Starr Rodrigue, turned herself in Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to federal charges.

The indictment alleges that Lumos received disability payments from Oct. 1, 2009, to March 1, 2024, while concealing her full physical abilities, along with her involvement, income and ownership of multiple businesses.

The indictment claims Lumos fraudulently collected $174,391 in disability payments over nearly a decade and a half.

If convicted, Lumos faces up to 15 years in prison and $500,000 in fines.

Officials with the Social Security Administration Office of Inspector General assisted with this investigation.
