MISSOURI – The firearms portion of Missouri’s fall turkey season has come to an end. The Missouri Department of Conservation says the number of turkeys bagged by hunters was down this year.
Around 1,800 turkeys were harvested during Missouri’s month-long fall season. That’s down from nearly 2,200 birds taken last fall.
MDC says a warm and dry October likely impacted the behavior of not only the turkeys, but the hunters trying to locate them.
Officials add that if you still want to try your hand for fall turkeys, you can still hunt via archery through Nov. 15, and then once again later in the winter.
