ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is holding a public meeting Thursday in Wentzville to discuss the project of adding a lane to I-70 in each direction between Wentzville and Warrenton.
The meeting is part of a larger initiative to expand I-70 across Missouri, a project that was signed into law by Governor Mike Parson in August 2023. The section between Wentzville and Warrenton involves adding a third lane in each direction along 18 miles of I-70, as well as improvements to interchanges and outer roads.
The project also includes adding a third lane in each direction along ten miles of I-64 and realigning a railroad bridge. The public hearing will be an open-house style meeting, allowing residents, businesses, and travelers to learn more and provide input.
Construction on the Wentzville to Warrenton stretch is expected to start this spring and be completed by December 2028, with the cost for this stretch estimated at $600 million.
The entire I-70 expansion project, covering 200 miles from Blue Springs to Wentzville, is expected to cost $2.8 billion and be completed by December 2030.
Thursday’s meeting will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Progress Park Recreation Center in Wentzville, located at 968 Meyer road. If you can’t make that time but want to have your voice heard, you can submit comments at modot.org/improvei70/warrentonwentzville. All comments must be received by Thursday, March 6.
