SAINT PETERS, Mo. — A man driving a motorcycle with a 4-year-old boy crashed Sunday night in Saint Peters, resulting in the death of the child.

According to the St. Peters Police Department, the accident occurred on westbound Mexico Road near the Belleau Creek intersection about 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Investigation revealed the motorcycle had struck a utility pole off Mexico Road, and both the driver and the 4-year-old boy were ejected.

Police said no other vehicles were involved in the collision. Both the driver and the 4-year-old boy were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

When officers arrived, both the driver and child were found with serious injuries. Both were taken to a local hospital, where the 4-year-old was pronounced dead. The driver was listed in critical condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash is still under investigation; it is unknown whether speed or any additional factors led to the accident.
