ST. LOUIS – The National Weather Service has confirmed three tornadoes from Friday evening’s St. Louis-area storms so far, with more official designations expected in the upcoming days.

NWS crews surveyed storm damage extensively Saturday in Villa Ridge, Gray Summit and Hillsboro, some of the areas that initially appeared to be hit hardest from Friday’s severe weather.

So far, NWS has confirmed these three tornadoes and designations…

  • An EF-2 from Hillsboro to Arnold (Jefferson County)
  • An EF-2 near Villa Ridge (Franklin County)
  • An EF-1 south of Union (Franklin County)

Details on the wind speeds and paths of these tornadoes were not immediately avaialble.

Damage assessments are ongoing, and NWS crews will continue to survey other St. Louis area spots of damage in Missouri and Illinois to evaluate where other tornadoes may have hit.

Based on early radar data and damage reports submitted to FOX 2, at least six tornadoes likely struck the St. Louis region Friday evening.
