ST. LOUIS – St. Louis natives and rappers Nelly and Sexyy Red revealed they are reportedly cousins during an appearance on a radio show.

In a radio interview on Real 92.3’s Big Boy’s Neighborhood, Sexyy Red and host Big Boy were surprised by Nelly, who briefly dropped in to greet the two. During the surprise appearance, Sexyy Red asked the ‘County Grammar’ artist if they were indeed cousins in an attempt to dispute an argument she had with someone in the building.

“This is my real blood cousin; people don’t believe we’re cousins.” Sexyy Red asserted. Although Nelly responded by saying, “we’re all cousins,” the ‘U My Everything’ artist doubled down on her statement and shared the interaction she had with a worker in the building that didn’t believe the two St. Louis artists were related.

“Someone in the front said we weren’t cousins; he thought I didn’t know you, talking about ‘We’re going to meet Nelly.’ I said, what do you mean, meet him? This is my cousin; I already know him.”

While it is uncertain if the two artists are telling the truth, the St. Louis rappers are representing St. Louis together and were seen taking photos together on the red carpet at the 2025 iHeart Radio Awards. At the award show, Nelly was presented with the Landmark Award by his wife, Ashanti, and Sexyy Red performed her hit song ‘Whatchu Kno About Me,’ alongside Memphis rapper Glorilla.
