ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Prosecutors filed new charges on Thursday against a Ballwin man accused of raping women he met through dating websites.
Yahya Maly, 28, has been jailed since mid-February on 13 counts.
On Feb. 27, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office filed six new charges against Maly, bringing the total tally to eight counts second-degree rape, three counts of first-degree rape or attempted rape, two counts of first-degree kidnapping, four counts of first-degree sodomy or attempted sodomy, and two counts of third-degree assault.
Maly remains jailed on a $500,000 cash-only bond. His arraignment is scheduled for March 19.
According to police probable cause statements, Maly raped at least six women between March 1, 2023, and Feb. 2, 2025, at his apartment in the 100 block of Log Trail Drive, near Vlasis Park.
Investigators said Maly met the victims on dating apps and went under the name “John.”
Maly would get the victims in his apartment, where he made numerous sexual advances on them before forcing himself on the victims and assaulting them. Some of the victims were assaulted more than once. In each case, the women either made it clear they were not interested in having sex with Maly prior to the assaults, or Maly forced himself on the victims without their consent.
Earlier this week, investigators released a timeline of places Maly had lived before coming to the St. Louis region:
- Henrico County, Virginia (Stayed there from at least 2013 to 2021)
- Chicago, Illinois (Stayed there from January 12th, 2022, to February 12th, 2022)
- Tucson, Arizona (Stayed there from December 3rd, 2022, to January 17th, 2023)
- Minneapolis—St. Paul, Minnesota (Stayed there from January 27th, 2023, to February 25th, 2023)
