ST. LOUIS – One man was arrested and one man is hospitalized after a shooting Saturday morning in St. Louis’ Downtown West district.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department reports the shooting happened around 6:30 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of 15th and Market streets.

Based on preliminary findings, police believe the shooting happened in a makeshift camp around the area, according to a SLMPD crime summary report.

When police arrived, they found an adult man with a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment. He is considered to be in critical, but stable condition.

SLMPD reports that officers used camera from the real-time crime center to track down the suspect near St. Lous’ Greyhound bus station.

Police arrested a 26-year-old man and also recovered a stolen handgun. SLMPD says charges are being filed with the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office.
