ST. LOUIS – Organizers of the Soulard Mardi Gras Bud Light Grand Parade held a meeting Thursday to remind the public of a few changes for those attending.

Come 11 a.m. Saturday, tens of thousands are expected to line streets in Soulard for the parade.

“We’re talking about more than three miles of bike rack to line the parade route—about 150 concrete barriers surrounding the neighborhood. More than 1,500 portable restrooms, so no excuses for improvising,” Bess McCoy of the Mardi Gras Foundation Board said.

Police officers will be stationed along the parade route, and no cars will be allowed in the neighborhood. Four entry points and five rideshare locations will be scattered around the area.

Some of the hard rules for those attending: no cans, no coolers, no bottles, and no backpacks.

“In Soulard, there will be officers you see and officers you don’t see working in uniforms and in plain capacity,” SLMPD Major Renee Kriesmann said. “This will include officers from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, St. Louis County Police Department, and officers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.”

An undercover task force will also be there to look for underage drinkers.

“If you see something suspicious or something doesn’t seem right, say something,” Kriesmann added. “Call 911 or tell a police officer. We want people to have fun, celebrate responsibly and get home safely.”
