OVERLAND, Mo. – An Overland police officer shot a man at a local gas station Sunday morning and was himself injured.
According to Sgt. Tracy Panus, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis County Police Department, the shooting happened just after 7:45 a.m. at the Shell gas station in the 10700 block of Page Avenue.
Police said the Overland officer made an investigative stop in the parking lot. The person who was stopped resisted and the officer shot him. That individual was taken to a local hospital. Their injury was not life-threatening, police said.
The officer involved is approximately 25 years old and has one years of experience in law enforcement, Panus said. The officer was also hospitalized. His injuries were also not life-threatening.
The county police department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons is investigating the shooting.
